Business Day reports that while Government insists that the BEE codes will be ratified by the end of the year, the Minister of Trade and Industry admits that they are complex, and may have to be simplified before smaller enterprises can be expected to become involved.

How to improve security at your franchise

Imagine it is late at night. You are just about to close shop when six men walk into your store, armed to the teeth. They demand the keys to your safe and start harassing your customers for their wallets and cell phones.

Somehow the police arrive on the scene and suddenly it is as if the apocalypse were upon you. As you hit the deck, all you hear is gunfire. After several minutes, which under the circumstances seem like hours, you realise that the thugs have the upper hand. They outgun the police and manage to escape.
